What this site is for and where it’s going …

Well - lots (again) has changed since my last post.

What started off as a temporary break in work to assess where we are, what we were going to continue to do - and of course where we were going to continue to do - has highlighted a few things that I would like to change. First of which is - I wish to do far less computer repair and far more web design.

This site will still exist - but I’m working on the redesign of the main site, Hughes Computing. I will be designing this site also, and - once again - changing it’s slant to include games development and other technical aspects.

And what about the game?!  Since last time - very little has happened. Partially because of time, partially due to lack of motivation. Actually, I’m fed up of messing around with lines of code just to alter the tinyest of detail that isn’t even visible - and it doesn’t help that I’m a perfectionist and don’t allow anything to slip through. It’s tedious, which makes the whole project stale and I need a break from it for a while! My Laptop - due to a partial hard drive failure - had to have LOTS of files removed to allow me to copy the rest of the drive quickly (a customer was waiting - long story really!)  so I deleted Visual Studio Express 2005 (if you haven’t used it, try it! Free?! What!? Can’t believe it either!) and the DirectX SDK, and lots of other valuable bits. So I can’t program, even if I wanted to.

Oh - and then my sound card mysteriously died! Why do I always get the random problems that none of my customers experience?! I fix problems every day without fail and then my own laptop out of pure spite gets a problem that won’t be corrected. So my PC is due for a serious service - possible a reinstall - but that’s for another day, when I’ve got a new hard drive in.

Gives me a chance to fire up the old GCC compiler on our Linux server and start working on server programming again - after all, although it can be frustrating also, I find it pretty rewarding!
